I saw some depressing statistics today concerning Americans and the number of families on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (Food Stamps).

Over 36 million people are currently receiving food stamps and the number is rapidly growing. The government has appropriated 54$ Billion dollars this year and 60$ Billion dollars for the next fiscal year, which begins in October.

The average person receives 133$ with the average family getting 293$ dollars.

As the leader of the free world and the self-proclaimed greatest nation on the planet, what are we doing wrong?  Are we unable or un-willing to help our own.
